Let’s make Venture Café at SXSW happen!
At Venture Café we love to connect innovators to make things happen weekly, all year round in ten cities across the globe. SXSW convenes entrepreneurs, musicians, technologists, activists, educators and filmmakers from around the world annually. This year, we want to share the Venture Café experience with the SXSW community, but we need your help in order to get there!
We have put together two sessions for SXSW 2021 and we need your vote to bring them to life:
- Cultivating Thriving Innovation Communities
- Taking Action Towards a More Inclusive & Equitable Company Today
In our session, “Cultivating Thriving Innovation Communities.” Discover how to build strong, inclusive, equitable innovation ecosystems in cities throughout the world, and discover how to start this movement in your community. Our expert panel will discuss the power of innovation districts in facilitating collaboration to solve complex issues and create equitable opportunities.
Speakers:
Anoesjka Imambaks, Executive Director Venture Café Rotterdam (Moderator)
Julie Wagner, president of the Global Institute on Innovation Districts and a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institute.
Tim Rowe, the founder and CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) & CIC Health
Christine Wergeland Sørbye, the CEO of the Oslo Science City Innovation District
In our second session, we have put together a team of experts to discuss “Taking Action Towards a More Inclusive & Equitable Company Today.” This is not a lesson in ideology, in this session we will give real world, actionable examples of how you can create a pathway to make your company more equitable. Find out how these leaders use innovation and the power of community to create leadership opportunities for BIPOC, create products with diversity in mind, and how to hire, retain and promote diverse teams.
Speakers:
Travis Sheridan, Co-Chair of Venture Café Global Institute and Chief Community Officer for Wexford Science and Technology (Moderator)
Julie Chai, founder and CEO of the Asian Leadership Project
Dujon C Smith, Midwest Lead for Accenture Ventures.
Make your voice heard during community voting November 10-20, 2020. It’s quick and easy. Vote for our sessions if you believe in improving the world through innovation!
